Lecturer Juventa Mudėnienė and future occupational therapist Mykolas Abromaitis (ER25) participated in the programme “HEROES Impact Toolbox: Boosting Education”, held in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, from 14 to 16 April.

We invite you to read Mykolas’ reflections on this international experience.

“I am truly delighted with last week’s experience, during which I had the opportunity to represent Vilniaus kolegija in the ‘HEROES Impact Toolbox: Boosting Education’ programme. Together with students and lecturers from the international HEROES network and Fontys University of Applied Sciences, we explored key topics relevant to higher education, including the creation of safe and inclusive learning environments, student engagement and motivation, sustainable education, and leadership.

One of the most memorable moments of the programme was a discussion on equality, illustrated by an example presented by lecturers from Fontys University about the 2001 economic crisis in Argentina. During that period, workers took over abandoned factories and successfully managed them. This case demonstrated how collaboration can foster a more equal, less hierarchical working environment—an approach that is equally important in higher education, highlighting the significance of student engagement and active participation in the academic community.

The programme not only facilitated knowledge sharing but also encouraged meaningful discussions and collaboration, inspiring the further dissemination of ideas.

I am grateful for the opportunity to represent Vilniaus kolegija, as well as to Lecturer Juventa Mudėnienė for her support, collaboration, and the knowledge and experience shared throughout the programme.”

The cooperation initiated during this programme is expected to continue in the future.
